Formula & guide ↓UNDERSTAND THE NUMBER
Clear inputs.
Explainable results.
Calculate CBM by multiplying each finished package’s length × width × height in meters × quantity, then adding the rows. Use outer packed dimensions, including any pallet or crate.
How to use this tool
- Measure the outside of each finished package, including its protective packing.
- Group identical sizes on one row. Enter the gross weight of one package.
- Check the totals, export a CSV, or move the cargo rows into a packing list.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
Five chair crates at 120 × 80 × 100 cm occupy 4.80 m³. Two lamp cartons at 60 × 40 × 50 cm add 0.24 m³. Together they occupy 5.04 m³. At 45 kg per crate and 8 kg per carton, gross weight is 241 kg.
What the estimate covers
Rectangular outside dimensions are used. Volume alone does not prove that a load fits a container, and carriers may charge for unusable or non-stackable space.
Should I measure the furniture or its packaging?
Measure the final package. Foam, crate walls, pallets and protruding parts can change the freight volume.
Does CBM tell me the freight price?
No. A quote also depends on the route, service scope, cargo, weight and the carrier’s charging rules.
Can I mix inches and centimeters?
Choose one dimension unit for the table. Changing the unit converts the entered dimensions; it does not relabel the same numbers.
