UNDERSTAND THE NUMBER

Clear inputs.
Explainable results.

A container loading estimate needs more than CBM. This tool compares uniform package orientations against internal dimensions, door openings and a user-confirmed cargo-weight limit. The result is a planning estimate for identical packages.

Grid capacity = floor(L/l) × floor(W/w) × floor(H/h), limited by payload

How to use this tool

  1. Choose a container and confirm the allowed cargo weight for your route.
  2. Enter one packed size, its weight and the quantity. Set upright, stacking and spacing rules.
  3. Review the best uniform orientation and the top-down diagram. Have the loading team confirm access, securing and weight distribution.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

A 20 ft reference container can hold a 4 × 2 × 2 grid of 120 × 80 × 100 cm crates when kept upright with no extra gap: 16 crates. At 45 kg each, they total 720 kg. This is a geometric example, not a loading approval.

What the estimate covers

All packages use one orientation. Mixed orientations, mixed cargo, floor point loads, forklift access, lashing, load bearing, axle limits and center of gravity are not optimized. Container series and local road limits vary.

GOOD QUESTIONS

A few things
worth knowing.

Talk about your shipment ↗
Is this a 3D packing optimization?

No. It selects the largest valid uniform grid from the allowed rotations. A professionally planned mixed-orientation load may differ.

Why does the door opening matter?

An item can fit inside the container but still be too tall or wide to pass through its door in the selected orientation. This model does not tilt or rotate cargo while entering.

What does “space between packages” include?

It adds the selected gap between adjacent packages on every stacked axis. It does not reserve a perimeter aisle or model dunnage thickness. Add required protection to the outer package size.
