UNDERSTAND THE NUMBER

Clear inputs.
Explainable results.

Chargeable weight compares actual gross weight with volumetric weight. For dimensions in centimeters, volumetric kilograms equal length × width × height ÷ divisor. Apply the carrier’s aggregation and rounding rules.

Volumetric kg = length(cm) × width(cm) × height(cm) ÷ divisor

How to use this tool

  1. Enter the size, quantity and gross weight per package.
  2. Select the agreed divisor and whether the comparison is per piece or for the whole shipment.
  3. Read both weights and the resulting estimate. Confirm minimum charges and rate breaks separately.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

Five 120 × 80 × 100 cm crates at 45 kg each weigh 225 kg. With a 6,000 cm³/kg divisor their volumetric weight is 800 kg. Under shipment-level comparison with no rounding, the estimate is 800 kg.

What the estimate covers

The presets are examples, not a universal carrier tariff. Dimension rounding, minimum billable weights, rate breaks, oversized cargo and special charges are not included.

GOOD QUESTIONS

A few things
worth knowing.

Talk about your shipment ↗
Why can per-piece and shipment results differ?

A dense parcel can offset a light parcel in a shipment-level comparison. In a per-piece calculation, each parcel is assessed separately before the results are added.

Which divisor should I use?

Use the divisor stated in your quote or tariff. 6,000 and 5,000 cm³/kg are useful air and express examples, but the actual service may use other rules.

Can I calculate LCL ocean weight-or-measure here?

Use the LCL/FCL quote comparison tool for revenue tons. This calculator reports air or express billing weight in kilograms.
